Banten, Indonesia – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has organized the Indonesia-Latin America and the Caribbean (INA-LAC) Business Forum in Gading Serpong, Banten, on 17-18 October 2022. The theme of the 2022 forum is “Transforming into a New Era”.
This forum provides an opportunity for business people, high-ranking government officials, and relevant stakeholders in the trade and investment sector, to interact more, be involved, and explore strategies to start concrete economic cooperation while expanding business networks.
INA-LAC 2022 consists of opening session, panel session, business pitching and business matching. The opening session began with a keynote speech by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno L.P. Marsudi, followed by remarks from the Secretary General of Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile who represented the views of a group of Latin American and Caribbean countries. During the opening session, several business agreements were signed between Indonesian and Latin American and Caribbean business actors.
On September 18 2022, in accordance with the main theme, this year’s INA-LAC Business Forum panel discussion session raised the theme “Business Models in a Post-pandemic Era: Towards Digitalization of the Economy.” This panel discussion featured leading Indonesian and Latin American policy makers as well as business people dealing with issues related to the digital economy.
As the core of the event’s activities, companies from Indonesia and Latin America and the Caribbean have met in business pitching and business matching sessions both offline and online. By 2022, the Forum had managed to attract more than 500 participants, the majority participating virtually due to the pandemic. The INA-LAC Business Forum also facilitated more than 100 business meetings which resulted in business agreements worth a total of USD 16.57 million in the mining, agriculture and property investment sectors as well as potential agreements worth USD 162.48 million in the manufacturing and fertilizer sectors.
During the two days of holding the INA-LAC Business Forum 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes to foster stronger trust and cooperation between business actors in the two regions through information, idea and experience sharing as well as opening up business opportunities.
